Heating and cooling equipment, heat pump water heaters, insulation, windows, and more energy efficient appliances qualify for federal tax benefits. There are numerous tools you can use to help find incentives for upgrading your home's energy efficiency. Here are some you can explore:

  • Energy Star’s Energy Efficiency Upgrades. You can also use Energy Star's Incentive Finder to find incentives in your area.
  • The Rocky Mountain Institute's Green Update Calculator is a user-friendly way to assess the economic and environmental impacts of green home and transporation upgrades.
  • To calculate your total personalized incentives under the Inflation Reduction Act, visit Rewiring America’s Incentive Calculator.
  • To learn more about lowering energy cost and how to claim tax credits, visit the Department of Energy’s Savings Hub.
  • For a full list of energy-related credits and deductions under the Inflation Reduction Act, visit the IRS

Visit the IRS to find out if you qualify for a clean vehicle tax credit. For a full list of Nevada's current laws and incentives around alternative fuels and electric vehicles, visit the U.S. Department of Energy.

Additional incentives will be provided by the State of Nevada in late 2024.  Visit Nevada Governor’s Office of Energy for an updated timeline or contact Info@energy.nv.gov for more information.

Background: Home Energy Rebates

Many of the rebates mentioned above are made possible by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which provided $8.8 billion to states and territories to implement home energy rebate programs. The Home Efficiency Rebates Program and the Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates Program intend to lower energy costs and increase efficiency in residential households by making energy upgrades more affordable.
